The Infinite

The Creator stands alone in His incorruptibility. There is nothing we have that He needs. There is no bribe large enough to bend the will of the Almighty. All power, dominion, and authority already belong to Him—there is nothing we can offer him that He does not already possess.

His will cannot be bent—we know,

because Satan tried!

In Matthew 4, Jesus was at one of His physically weakest points on earth. He went away into the wilderness to fast and talk to His Father for forty days. In the midst of that weakness, Satan came to Him and offered Him the very best thing that he had to offer: his rule over the world. With one sentence from the Law, Jesus obliterates Satan’s scheme:

“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You

must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

Apparently, Satan had forgotten that his title as Ruler of this World was only a temporary post—the world and everything in it has always belonged its Creator. The best the world has to offer holds no weight for the Infinite.

When offered the choice between selfishness and true love, Jesus is the only person in existence to have always chosen love.
